I saw a post on Twitter saying, "People be like wow you have really great energy, let me go get my straw." From an account no longer found :( I found this wording relevant to the artwork I created a month ago. Everyday as individuals we attempt to achieve moderation in various ways. For example, abstaining from alcohol or drugs, cutting sugar from your diet, or even decreasing your social media screen time. These practices require willpower. I like to believe we all embody willpower, though some people have a stronger sense than others. In most circumstances individuals fall short by indulging in too much of a "good" or "bad" thing.
In this time lapse video I created a work of expressionism titled, I Love You More. Prior to making the art, I sat with many emotions. The primary feeling being exhaustion that I had been experiencing by giving energy away freely. As a natural born giver, it is easy to succumb to things that may not ultimately be in my best interest. While my intentions remained pure the recipient's seemed to change. After making the art I felt a release that allowed me to redefine my alignment. I was able to transmute all of my emotions into the work.
There is a measure in all things. Maya Angelou once said, "Moderation in all things. And even moderation in moderation. Don't get too much moderation, you know?" Watch out for energy vampires! At the same time, do not become one. Being ALL IN does not require you to pour from an empty cup. Lets take care of ourselves.
Do you.
Be you.
Stay true.
